A physical exam is conducted, including height, weight, BMI, and vital signs. Lifestyle Assessment: Detailed discussion on daily routines, diet, exercise habits, and how long you have been trying to lose weight. Behavioral Assessment: Evaluation of psychological, social, and environmental factors contributing to weight. Lab Work & Diagnostics: Blood tests (comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel), and sometimes an EKG or sleep study to identify underlying factors. Weight History: A review of past weight-loss efforts, as well as highest and lowest adult weights. Setting Goals: Initial goals often aim for a 5% to 10% reduction of current body weight over six months
